WHAT IS A MIRACLE?
THE WORLD DESCRIBES MIRACLES LIKE THIS:
A surprising and welcome event that is not explicable by natural or scientific laws and is therefore considered to be the work of a divine agency. “the miracle of rising from the grave”
A highly improbable or extraordinary event, development, or accomplishment that brings very welcome consequences. “it was a miracle that more people hadn’t been killed or injured”
An amazing product or achievement, or an outstanding example of something. “a machine which was a miracle of design”
WHAT IS A MIRACLE ACCORDING TO A COURSE IN MIRACLES?
According to A Course In Miracles: A miracle entails a shift in perception.
Miracles occur within us and allow us to see the outside world as different from the way we perceived it before. We offer a little willingness to see a situation differently. If we are in pain, if we are struggling, we ask the holy spirit to help us change our thinking: to go from seeing something from “fearful” perspective to a “loving” perspective.
It can be about anything. For example, “You hate your job and you want to quit, but you don’t quit because you are afraid of having no money.” You are seeing the situation from a place of “fear”. Ask to see this situation differently – keep choosing different thoughts until you see it from a place or perception of love. For example, you could shift your thinking to: “I know I am always in the right place at the right time. This job (like all things physical) will change when the time is right. Until then, I can feel gratitude for the finances it provides and for the relationships I enjoy.”
